Mark Peterson

Mark Peterson has been taking and displaying determinedly urban photographs since 2004, mostly in Boston and surrounding areas. In his photographs he seeks spaces that are in between, where the conventionally attractive and desirable has dissipated. Often this coincides with social or economic edges. Urban and industrial settings are rife with examples of our questionable collective choices, and a scene may portray both the vigor that motivated a choice and the unintended consequences that eventually resulted. He is particularly interested in the irony of an elegantly composed picture of an apparently banal site.
